Welcome to the January 2012 newsletter
The season is well underway and the last few months have seen a few changes at the club at committee level, Kev stepped into Mike’s shoes to fill the Chairmans role and I (Tony Kirk) took on the secretarys role. Sue replaced JoAnn as Volunteer Co-Ordinator.
The u16 girls have unfortunately had to withdraw from the City of York Girls Football league due to lack of available players. Everyone at the club would like to thank Jim Lidgley and Lynda Rowley and all the players for their efforts over the years - all involved have been a credit to CCJFC.
CLUB DISCIPLINE
The behaviour of our players in all age groups has been impeccable so far this season, there have been no bookings or issues whatsoever. Unfortunately however, a couple of incidents have arisen with spectators making negative comments from the sideline.
There is no need under any circumstances for a players parent or any spectator to direct remarks at opposition players or match officials, or get involved with opposition spectators – any fines received as a result of doing so will be passed onto the person involved, the club will not pay.
There is a shortage of referees at junior level and a lot of the ones we do have are young and recently qualified. They should be encouraged and not criticised, just like the players they are learning the game and should be free to do so in a safe and fun environment.
On a lighter note, I am pleased to say that thus far the 2011/2012 season is one of the most successful I can remember with regards to performances and league positions – it’s great to see all our players enjoying and working hard at their football.
The club will be holding its annual race night shortly – please check our website for details – as this is our main fundraiser your presence would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
T.Kirk (Club Secretary)
